While reading "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" by John Maxwell again recently, this law is what I remember the most and it really happen in my daily business. It brings me to think about the responsibilities of assemble the right people in the team.
How will you accomplish great deeds? Only by attracting the right people. The right leader have the capacity to anticpate, to see around corners. A highly motivated organisation must led by individuals who look beyond today, those who are capable of seeing beyond the horizon. They are those who see what is the "punch" coming. A boxer loses a match is not being punch by the hardest hit, it is being knock down by the unforseen punch.
Right people grasp emerging shifts in the business environment, the trends of the business, determine the best marketing method to build business, and act on their understanding to launch something new. Whatever work yesterday might not work today, whatever is the best lead generation previously might not be the best strategy now.
Strong character people will always "fight for their right", sometime to the extend of pissing people who are rules-stickers or square-head personnel to lead the team. Strong people interpret the storm signs and opportunities on the horizon, steer the Ship towards the right course of direction.
In stormy times, would you want to see a strong leader that can lead you out of bad weather or do you just want to see a leader who can just keep encouraging and singing in the rain?
