Bring Something To The Table

As you being to build a team or an organisation, you are constantly looking for leader who can have the same vision as you to build up the team. "Bring something to the table" is an expression to describe a person's ability to contribute to the team and add value to the system or training.

Not everyone does that. In life, some people always want to be the "guest", some people always want to be serve rather to serve others. Wherever they go, they are there to be served, to have their needs met, to be the recipent. I too had came across these people in my organisation, when call upon them to contribute to the team, to be a trainer, you realise that thousand excuses can be develop. With this observation, I realise that even a person had a status or a pin, it does not mean they are the potential diamonds I am looking at. With these you can really know a person character, whether he had the "lion heart" to be a millionaire one day. Because they possess that selfish attitude, they never bring anything to the table for anyone else. After a while, those in his team will know if he is a true leader.

"Ask not what the country can do for you, ask what you can do for the country".. quote JFK, and the country is the people, the team and the organisation. The best way to learn is to teach, a true leader constantly looking for ways to bring something to the table for the team, for the system and for the organisation. I am constantly using this yardstick to identify who had the untity lion heart to contribute to the team, someone that worth my investment for life to groom them to be a millionaire.

不招人忌是庸材

中國有句話說 "不招人忌是庸材" . In the east there is a phrase say " People will jealous of you, not to think so is naive" . As a leader or a organisation is moving up, there will be people or things that want to stop them. People who are not successful often want to pull those people who is going to achieve successs down.

Great leaders aren't afraid of other opinion. They fearlessly make tough calls. They speak thier truth. They run their own race, making the right decisions and worrying little about public opinion. They are courage in action.

They laugh at Gandhi, look what he had made a impact to the world now. "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win" - Gandhi. In 1986 they laugh at Mark Hughes, look what Mark Hughes had made a impact to the wellness world now. A famous quote by Mark Hughes during the trail, " If the doctors and nutritionists are expert in weight loss, what are they still so fat!"

这是优胜劣败，竞争剧烈的现实社会。何况世上事，有人胜利就有人失败，有人赚钱就一定有人亏本。心态甚不平衡。红眼病发也不奇怪。只要有人的地方，就有欺侮、妒忌和打压。所谓不招人忌是庸材！ In this "dog eat dog" society, some will win some will lose. There are people who become rich, some remain poor. Those who are jealous of someone else, jealous of other powerful system, this is not surprise. Whenever there is human, there will be hatred, jealous and pressure. Welcome to the real world!

No Religion, No Politics, No Badmouth

In a multi-racial , mulit-religion and mulit-cutural countries that I live in, one of the things that I observe why we can live in harmony and peaceful is that everyone respect each religion and culture. Every religion is a good "belief sytem" , it guide mankind to be good deed and have a life guidance.

In the army, I was thought the subject of Religion issues. We understand why countries can go to war when the leaders talk about religion issues. Likewise in business, we had often seen many people "tap on" to their influence and move to the top. However, they fall even faster as they are building their business on a sand. Everything rises and fall on leadership, AND..... everything rises and fall when there is religion matters in business.

To be a true leader in a multi-reglion, multi-politics countries, we respect every reglion and always be neutral. Never talk, show, exhibit, demonstrate or encourage any activities or whatsoever in the organisation. Sometimes a sentences from a leader like " I am going to chxxxh this sunday" send a wrong signal to their team. Sometimes a computer screen like " Praise the xxxx" send a wrong signal to their team.

Maybe I am a bit lucky. I came from a taoist family, go to buddist temple with my grandmum when I was just a little boy. When I grown up, been to mosque with my soccer kaki. And I been to church sunday school when I was active in Boy Brigade, also sometimes visit indian temple as some of my best friend is there... After all this engagment, I become a FREE THINKER. Respect each religion with the highest respect, I seen thru my experience all religion is a Good Belief System.

NO RELIGION. NO POLITICES. NO BADMOUTH.

我很小的时候就听齐秦的歌和认识这个人，知道他是一匹来自北方的狼，冷酷而犹豫。但也有温柔的一面，那首《大约在冬季》,我很喜欢这首歌悠扬清新的旋律，常常会跟着哼几句完全走样的歌词。成长过程一直有听齐秦的歌, 好象越来越了解齐秦, 就越了解自己。了解他的音乐，了解他这个人。他的声音纯净的像一面湖水，有一种淡淡的忧伤，但是绝不做作。感觉自然亲切，尤其适合在夜深的时候听，就像是在听一个久违了的老友在诉说他的漂泊的往事。他早期很多歌都是自己作词作曲，有很多叛逆或是愤世嫉俗的成分，也有许多的困惑和哀伤。再后来，他的专辑出的越来越慢，有的也只是精选集。看到上面的照片, 齐秦老了, 我也跟着老了。但是沒次一再的听他的歌, 象"外面的世界", 我发现自己又找回了原来的我。那样深情，那样孤傲，那样忧伤, 那么清澈，仿佛没有岁月留下的痕迹；他的长发还是在风中飘呀飘的，我小时侯也留了长发.他是一匹来自北方的狼, 我昰一匹来自南方的狼. 齐秦，陪我成长中的一位歌手。

Rule the world, serve the nation with an IRON HEART

Somebody once ask me, " How does a person have the burning desire to focus on their goal and become a good leader that person respect?"

Have a IRON HEART. An iron react and respond to what they contact upon. It turn cold when the surrounding is cold, it become warm when the surrounding is hot. Likewise in life, you have to always focus on your dream, your destiny and your goal. Beware of those dream stealer, be cold to them. The only reason why they are call dream stealer is because their own dream was stolen, and they are jealous of you fulfiling your dream. Why must you let them steal your dreams? The most important thing is not what you say that will affect them, the most important thing is what they say will not affect you.

On the other degree, have a warm heart when you met someone that is warm and have the common vision like yours. Be a servant leadership to serve them. When someone attract to your ideas, align with your vision and have the courage to dream, stretch out your arm and embrace them your warmest heart. The more you serve, the more you get. People goes where their heart goes.

Be a legend.......... Rule the world, serve the nation with an IRON HEART.

The Iceberg

This iceberg represents your leadership. The 10% above the water represents your skill. The 90% below the water represents your character. It's what's below the surface that sinks the ship or lift a human to become man and woman of great impact.

The iceberg is a great picture of leadership illustration because so much of you on becoming a person of influence comes from qualities we can’t see on the outside. It’s below the surface: self-discipline, emotional security, core values, and a sense of identity that is within you.

Many people rise to the top, moving up the ladder of position faster then they groom or neglect their character. Your skill and knowledge may get you to the top, but it's your character that will keep you there.

Whatever is happening on the outside of our life comes from what's happening on the inside, When we see fruit, we know what kind of tree it is from, the outside is only a reflection of what's on the inside. So, why not lead yourself well first before you lead others?

Business is all about Relationship

Leadership is a people business. One of the most fulfilling or heart-warming aspects of the business, if done right, is how it uplifts people, helps people to feel better about themselves, and eventually become more and better than they were.

Before anyone will lend you a hand, you must touch their heart first. I always believe to have a empire in anything you do there must have a SYSTEM, a protocol, rules and regulation to achieve an truely achievable international business. However, Buisness is all about relationships. At the mist of building a team, it's easy for a leader to forget that people do business with people they like. How easy it is to forget that, ulitmately, business and life is about about human relationship. People want to know your are real, human, decent, kind and trustworthy.

When people ask me how to I build my business, I reply " I build my business one person at a time" , cause I know I build my business from one emotion to another emotion. All Great leader have a iron heart, passion for their vision and their love for action, despite that they process the human touch attend the majority of their effort to the people. Leader who tend ONLY to business often end up losing the people and their business. But True Leader who tend to the people ususally build up the people -- and then the business.

The latest book I am reading

This latest book I got, 360 Degree Leader, seem to be the best fit on Leadership in my business. Principle of Leadership never change, however in this book it describe the principle of 1. Lead Up - to your organisation, system, mentor or people above you : Lead Across - to your peers, follow team leaders and people on the same level as you : Lead down - lead your own team and be a good team leader.

Some people are good at leading their own team, but they seem to alienate the leaders of other teams and do not understand unity concept. Some people excel at building a great relationship with their mentor and coach, but they just have no influence or capability to build their team. A few people can get along with just about anybody, but they never seem to get any work done or moving up the ladder.
