Be a Humble Leader

A leader must always remain humble. Power and position tend to corrupt a person's morals and creat arrogance and greed. Under this type of leadership, a team might attain only tempory success, but cannot continue growing for long.

"You exist: that's why I exist", ourselves is a small part of the whole, and this remains the only way to maintain harmony and cooperation within a group.

To develop a sense of community and unity, leaders must have the humility to recognize that they achieve their positions by the efforts of teamworks. Only a humble leader can build a cooperating team and lead it to harmonious, long-term success

Be Humble - Ego, Arrogance, Greed Kills! Rome wasn't build in a day, and Rome was build with humble leaders.

Have you ever seen the rain?

Wow! been to Pedro Cardoso training and hear this song . Isn't this song I used to sing with my friends when we are guitaring under the HDB staircase? Isn't this the song when my friends always sing and drum at Woodlands jetty with casberg special blue beer along. I miss all my malays friends, my schools friends whom we play soccer and guitar together. That was the kind of memory you had in your life that you cherish most. There is many versions of this song from Creedence clearwater , John Fogerty, however I still prefer the voice of Rod Stewart > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ogb3NHtTvw

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm,
I know!
It's been comin' for sometime.
When it's over so they say
It'll rain on a sunny day,
I know!
Shining down like water!

I wanna know: have you ever seen the rain?
I wanna know: have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day

Yesterday and days before
Sun is cold and rain is hot,
I know!
Been that way for all my time.
Till forever on it goes
Thru the circle fast and slow,
I know!
It can't stop I wonder!

I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain?
Iwanna know, have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?

West Point Leadership

Having read books after books about personal development, it came a time that I am looking for a "breakthru" to gear myself to a higher level of leadership. I had read many books on leadership e.g. John Maxwell, Jim Rohn, Robin Sharma, Tim Elmore, Brain Tracy, Zig Ziglar and many others. They offers great leaderhip, great principle, great delivery with different perspective... it cames to a state of mind that I need some "leadership guidance from different spectrum", to search for the high level of leadership development.

I got it! Why not go back to where I start my leadership and moulding of character from? Yes, from the army. West Point Leadership books shares compelling principles of leadership taught at the academy , include Duty, Honor, Faith , Courage, Vision, Strategy, Loyality and others.

It really got me! Why? because I was a soldier before... "Once a Soldier, Always a Soldier"

No Excuse, Sir!

When I was a cadet in an officer school, I learn from DAY ONE there were ONLY 3 ANSWERS when the commander called you : “Yes, Sir” , “No, Sir” , “No excuse, Sir”

The “No excuse” response is really the most difficult, but the most important to adapt. Once embraces, it puts the situation in an appropriate light. The person accepts accountability for the circumstances, insinuates that the problem surely is going to get fixed.

Leaders cultivate the habit of not offering excuses. There is no place for an entrepreneur to have excuse for failure.

A typical excuser find excuses conversation go as follows:
Excuser : “ John, due to my work, I cannot conduct class”
John : “ Why not?”
Excuser : “ I have to work late, and I have to take care of my business here too”
John : “ So who is taking over your duty?”
Excuser : “ I have no ideas, lately very busy, hope you understand”
John: “ No problem. If you're not a trainer, then be a trainee. YOU EITHER TRAIN PEOPLE OR GET TRAIN”
Excuser : “ errrr…….but I have to work late on….. maybe I still can continue as trainer better”

I can’t really define if a person can become a successful entrepreneur, but I know it when I had this type of conversation.

“Excuses are like crutches, you can never win a race if you’re on crutches”. Excuser are on crutches, how to become successful if they’re on excuse's crutches?”
